Cathedral of St. John The Divine

Earlier this year, ACS Underground Solutions was granted a contract for The Cathedral Church of St. John the Divine www.stjohndivine.org located in New York City.

The Cathedral Church of St. John the Divine is the world’s largest cathedral. Our task was to find the flow and direction of the sewer system in the basement of this incredible historic church.

ACS specialists used a robotic sewer camera on this project. The task was arduous due to the fact these pipes had not been inspected for over 100 years. The first recommendation at the site was to subcontract out the cleaning of the sewer main using an industrial jet cleaning tool which operates at 3000 PSI. After the sewer lines were cleaned, the robotic camera was launched into the main line where color video footage was recorded and analyzed. Our mission was to discover any and all sewer lateral lines leading into the pipe as new tie-ins were needed for the developer.

After a 14 day thorough inspection by ACS Underground Solutions, we made sure that all the requests from the contractor were completed from the list. We successfully found the direction of flow and all tie-ins that were needed to complete the plumbing work.
